Dear Diary

Dear Diary

Note to Readers:
Even though this is a dairy, I am adding flash backs to the orignal events using “****” to note the changes back and forth. Pam is the one telling the story in both the diary and the flashbacks. You can just consider this an experiment in writing. Hope you enjoy.
Dear Diary

Seems like a lifetime ago since last I attempted to write in you. I was back home than, just a kid in love. I still had a family and a future. Guess it is time to share all my hearts secrets once more. Just like the old times, it starts out with a Boy. Well not a boy but a man this time.

His name is James Hawkins. He also goes by the name of Icehawk. Raven calls him Ice for short. He is anything but cold and fridge like the name sounds. He has bright ice blue eyes and white blonde hair. His skin is soft and has a sun kissed tan of gold. He’s not very heavily muscled, he is very well formed, Oh what a body. His hands are strong and Oh so gentle. He is nothing like Ron. Yet..

The first time I laid eyes on him it was just after a gig, I saw Icehawk. Raven was leaning into his body as he streaked down the street towards me. The winter wind ran through his hair and his smile… How can I explain his smile.

I was still in my cat stripes that hide under my trench coat. We all entered the warehouse. I figured he was either a new member of the Seattle hunt or a new mate for her collection, like me. Either way, nothing to do with me. I dropped my coat and I thought I saw his jaw bounce a few times off the ground. I liked the reaction. His eyes seemed to follow me even when I took a dip in the pond. The oil base paint stayed in place, not one striped smuged.

Raven helped me with cold cream as she talked to Ice and told him about the guy in the healing sands. William needed her attention and gave Ice the cream and towel to help me get out of my stripes. He took the cream and his hands glided over the skin of my back. It was the first touch he laid on me. God, he was so gentle. Even when he wiped it off it felt so gentle.

Linda asked him “Like the paint job?”

His hands moved gently over me as he commented, “I could get to enjoy this…

Linda bragged, “I helped paint it on.”

Ice Hawk asked, “How do I get your job?”

Linda pulled out a card and handed it to Icehawk. He took the card between cold cream fingers and read it. Linda rattled off, “Just in case you know someone who need entertainment for their next party.”

Ice Hawk looked at Linda, “You’re her manager?”

Linda nodded.

Linda rambled off a ton of questions to him. He was single, new to town and with no emotional attachments. Linda stared him down and was moving in quick. I didn’t mind. I was in no hurry to get close to any one. Linda was enamored with him. He tried to take me and Linda to breakfast but everything went wrong.

******
Ice Hawk answered Linda, “Single, new to town…no emotional attachments.”

Linda smiled, “Movies??”

I felt his eyes on my back. “I had something like that in mind, in fact.

I stood up, taking the cold cream. “I can see you two want to be alone. I need to finish this.”

“No, she wants to be alone.” He spoke quickly, “I want breakfast.”

“There is a nice place a few blocks away.” I spoke as I ascended the vines.

Ice Hawk laughed, “Is that what you where thinking about, Linda?”

“We can start with food,” Linda winked at him.

“How about you, Pam…would you like to join us?”

“Sure let me get some clothes on.” I answered as an expression of disappointment sweep over him. I pulled myself up the vines.

Linda chimed sweetly, “Hey you still go me.”

“Do all the women here climb like that?” Ice Hawk grinned at Linda.

Linda started to rambled, “It is like a fitness thing raven made us learn. Raven actually can leap from vine to vine. Pam is really good at up, I only can go down.”

“Really?” he questioned, Their voices floating up to my hut.

“Oh yeah really” Linda chuckled at the double meaning, “William takes the ladder still and mystic seldom is around and Josho is to small. So you like surfing? Blading?”

“My thing is skateboard and skating” he spoke softly. “But I am at home on blades too.”

“No one around here seems interested in fun.” Linda commented

Ice Hawk laughed, “That’s gotta suck. Me? I’ll party all night.”

I called down, “Ask William to take care of the baby Linda”

Linda jumped to her feet, “I’ll be right back.”

Ice Hawk smiled, “I hope so…”

Linda looked to the now empty sands. She climbed a ladder, as I spun down a vine. His eyes followed me with a smile on his lips. He pulled a cloth from his pocket. “Just a minute.” He said softly as he cupped my chin and gently rubbed a stripe I missed off my cheek. “No mirrors?”

“We have a small one. So the guys can shave.”

Ice Hawk smiled, “Pam?”

“Yes.”

Ice Hawk asked, “Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”

“umm.. I guess.” I felt funny accepting but he was a Friend of Raven’s. “Burger place or better?”

Ice Hawk smiled. “Better.” He paused briefly, “What do you like? French? Have you ever tried Haut Cuisine?”

Linda landed on the ground and stomped over to us. “I can’t go.”

He looked to Linda, “Why not?”

“Cause Raven has William all mad,” Linda pouted, “and I have to stay here with the kid just in case.”

******
Linda had to stay behind to care for Josho. As we walked to the diner he slipped me a card with his number and teased me with a trip to Paris for the weekend. I really wanted to tell him to get a life but he seemed so believable. Things started okay but than Biggs showed up and it ended up in a fight at the diner. I ran like hell back to the warehouse, leaving Ice to fend for himself and from what I heard he sure did.

*****
Icehawk looked around the diner, intrigued.

“Is this place okay?” I walked into the corner diner. It was small and cozy but I wasn’t sure he would like it. “If not we can go else where.”

“Any place with you, will be fine.”

I slide into a booth and he moved to my side. I could feel his body next to me yet we didn’t touch. The fragrance he wore was light but manly. I wasn’t sure if it was cologne or he just natural smelled good.

“Hi Pam,” Jenny walked up to the table, “What will your friend Have?”

Icehawk picked up a menu and looked up at the woman. “What would you suggest?”

Jenny addressed me, “The usually for Linda to go?” She turned to Ice, “Well we have good biscuits and gravy.”

“Yes, please.” He turned to me, “Pam?”

“Linda only wants hotcakes and sausage today and I’ll take the special. What did you get?”

“Biscuits and gravy sounds good, and would you have something sweet?”

Jenny offered, “We have some Danish”

The order taken Jenny went about getting it. Leaving us to our own devices. I looked out the window not sure of what to say.

He eyes burned on me and made shivers run up and down my back. “”Are you a native?”

“Native what?” I brought my attention to him.

“Of Seattle.”

“Nope. Just ended up here.” I responded.

“Where are you from, originally?” He inquired

The food came and as I picked at it I stared out the window. My eyes widen as I saw the huge hulking figure of Bobby Biggs coming up the street. I slipped down under the table as he stormed in to the dinner.

Biggs bellowed, “Have you seen her today?

Jenny lied, “Yeah she was in here earlier, you just missed her. Why don’t you just leave the girl alone. She doesn’t like you.”

Icehawk covered his mouth with a hand and whispered, “He after you?”

I nodded

Biggs screamed, “She is in love with me bitch! You best not be lying to me. I will find her you know.” Biggs scanned the dinner and moved down the isle to the ladies room he kicked the door in and disappeared. I moved quickly from the booth and ran out the front door. I didn’t look back. I just ran.

*****
Jenny told Linda later who filled me in on the battle Ice had to defend me. Biggs slammed him over the counter and Ice covered the floor with a sheet of ice and sent Biggs flying. Jenny said things got really tense when Icehawk put a fork saber to Biggs throat. But I had ran for life and limb . Once safe in the warehouse I watched for him and hoped he was okay. It was silly I know he was part of the hunt by than, so of course he was okay. If it was more than he could handle Raven would be out the door in a flash to back him up.

He came back with food and we enjoyed our breakfast in the peace of the forest. I leaned against a tree as Linda and him chattered on. Somewhere in the talk. I fell asleep sitting leaned against one of the trees in the warehouse. My dreams where filled of childhood dances and hugs and kisses of my daddy. I guess I really miss him but that isn’t what I am writing about.

*****
Icehawk spoke, “Linda? How much to book her for a month?”

“A month!” Linda looked shocked, “Depends on the gig.”

“This month…starting right now.”

“She has a gig to do Fridays.”

“Including Friday.”

Linda thought, “Well the month is almost over.”

Icehawk spoke, “The next 30 days, then.”

“Okay in or out of costume? Body painting takes time.”

“Whatever she wants to wear.” Icehawk stared at Linda, “What’s the max, Linda?”

“How many hours?”

“Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week for 30 days.” He was getting agitated.

“No one can afford that!”

Icehawk smiled. ” 50 grand? 75?”

“You’re pulling my leg.”

“One hundred grand?”

“Okay.” Linda jumped at the offer.

*****
Somehow, he arranged with my dear little manger , LINDA, to buy me for a month for $100,000. What a decision to make. Here is a drop dead handsome hunk, friends with the one person I totally trust and he wants to buy me. I would never get a chance to score should a landslide of cash but he was buying me, like I was a hooker for sale. I read the contract and reread the contract. If he so much as kissed me he would lose his money and I was free of the contract. But what if I wanted him to kiss me? No, that would never happen, I had gone how many years so far with out even a casual date. But God I was attracted.

*****
He had fallen asleep, I woke him with a gentle touch and backed away quickly as he stirred, “I have a few questions.”

“Sure.. ask away,” He sat up an stretched.

My eyes dropped quickly so I won’t stare. “When do I sleep? I can dance for hours but not a full month.”

Icehawk laughed softly, “I don’t expect you to dance. Unless you feel like it.”

“Than why the contract?” I wondered what he did want for his money.

“Made Linda feel good.” He drew his legs to him.

“What is the option for a second month for?” I didn’t like the idea of disappearing with a stranger for two months, but the money. What did he expect for all that money.

“I like to keep my options open.” He grinned as I looked at the contract, “You do have the option to decline my offer.” He mentioned. “Now we can go to Paris.”

I took the pen I had in hand and signed. It was a chance of a lifetime even if he wanted more from me, I would never get a chance like this again. I would be stupid not to. I convinced my self into it. I handed him the contract and pen. “You need Raven to notarize it.”

Icehawk took the pen and laid the paper on his knee, signing, “Works for me.”

I stood up and looked down on him, “Guess I got to get a bag to pack.”

“We can pick up anything you don’t have in Paris.” He moved to his feet.

“Raven!” I yelled up, “If you and William are done can you come and notarize this.” I looked at him, “I don’t have a passport.” Raven joined Ice walking to the yard as I moved to my hut. I thought of the things Raven and I had talked about. I would not let her down. Her secrets where safe with me. I touched the photo of my family and kissed the frame and left it on the wall.

****
I couldn’t have been more wrong on his attentions. He had this lonely soul that cried out to mine. He treated me like….. a princess? Yeah all the old story book thoughts did come to mind. Cinderella and Her Prince, Sleeping Beauty with her White Knight, …… Ice compared us to Beauty and the Beast. He is no Beast.
****

I walked in the yard. The mood seemed tense so I smiled brightly as I interrupted, “There you guys are. Raven, William is with Josho I think he needs you.”

Raven turned to him with a look of warning, “Enjoy Icehawk.” She moved pass me, laying her hand on my arm and smiling as she entered the warehouse.

“Pam.” Icehawk looked at me, “I don’t expect you to leave now. We have a date for dinner.”

“Did you read the contract?” I questioned.

“Yes.”

“24/7 starting at the signing.” I shrugged, “It’s your money and your time. I am just your dancer.”

“Okay…my time. I want you to do what you normally do during your day. Nothing more.”

“Where?”

“Wherever you want.”

I confessed, “My life is pretty boring. Sure you want to see me do that. I swim when I get home from a gig, sleep and practice and swim.”

“Perhaps we’ll take in a play.” His smile was bright. I could see his eyes dancing with… with joy? “Or the symphony.”

I lowered my head with a half smile. I was feeling out of place, “Haven’t done that since I was a kid.”

“What would you like to do?” What is something you’ve always wanted to do?” He moved to my side, as I felt my cheeks fire in a blush. He smiled even more and continued, “There is… Tell me what it is…”

“It is silly.”
“Can’t be, not if you want to do it.” His finger slide under my chin and he looked into my eyes, “Please tell me.”

My mouth open and out it blurted, “I have never been to Disney World.”

Icehawk grinned. He pulled out his cell and dialed, “Yeah…Hawkins…
File a flight plan for Orlando and send a limo. Right.” He closed his phone, “We are going to Disney World. You know? I’ve never been either.”

“Just like that!”

Icehawk smile to a sweet soft expression with his lips just barely turned in a smile, his words floated softly “Just like that.”

****

Guess that’s enough for a start. My hand hurts from all this scribbling. Someday I might even get to where people could read my handwriting. There is so much more to tell. So much I have to sort out. Maybe I should make tape recordings instead. Now there’s a thought. A dairy in sound. Raven would flip.
