BACKGROUND
It’s an interesting meditation looking back on the transitional times in one’s life. Remembering time when you were so vastly different then your current self it almost like remembering the life of a stranger. Still it is always good to remember where one has come from.

I remember the one night it was all different, I was so much younger and so much smaller than I am now. The shadows the dark it all frighten me. Even now despite so much time passing a spike of fear lances my heart with each remembrance. The night was a hot oppressing one, the type that wild animals run loose in hunting prey and the homeless seek little shelter. My parents… my old neglectful parents had gambled themselves onto the street in some family’s back room and offered me up as collateral the debtee. I was merely a child almost in the my teens. The brute dragged me out the back of the house into the alley. I bite, fought, and screamed worming loose. I bolted down the alley toward the open road only for him to grab me by the hair and drag me back. Then a pair of burning red eyes appeared behind that wretched man. They were filled with rage, but that voice was so calm… so cold. The man drew a gun then his neck split open showering the alleyway in his blood. I fainted and next thing I knew I awoke in a new bed, in a new home with Lucius standing over me with a bowl of warm soup
