Jones Row

By Jack Carter

Let me tell you about Jones row
Take it from someone who been there, I know
I’ve needed my dose so bad that it really hurt
It’ll knock you down and drag you in the dirt

So be very careful if you go down that road
A jonesing habit is a heavy load
I’ve seen it destroy so many men
I’ve seen it in turkey, at a dingy opium den

I’ve seen it abroad and I’ve seen it at home
I’ve seen it every where I roam
I’ve seen people jones for many things
I’ve seen the heartache that it brings

So be careful when you’re near this place called jones row
Believe me it’s not the place to go
Once you’ve been there it’s hard to get out
In your mind, let there be no doubt

It’s the kind of place that will destroy your mind
All of a sudden you’ll forget how to be kind
You’ll do anything to get the dough
To go back to the place they call jones row.
