To my people
This is the first entry of my log of the green. When I arrived, the green was in darkness like when we hide in a chest as a child. The world was filled with sounds of creatures I could never describe in the fullness of their song. I was in a forest much like our own but it was dark, shadowy and cold. As I walked through this foreboding land, I came upon dark ones about to take the flame from a female.
There were many dark ones circling this clearing. They forced the maiden onto to a stone and bound her against her will. I moved to help her, sending Valoki to take the blacken dagger from the hand of the High evil, when out of the darken tree line sprung a cat man of immense power. He tossed a dark one like a rag doll and headed to the center of the evil. A flying stick that spread a thick smoke of white, that made the dark ones unable to move, followed him.
I noticed it also made a bird that seemed to be trying to help the cat man fall from the sky. I used my minds eye to make one dark one attack another but he could not move. Valoki could not get around the smoke to obtain the dagger, so I took the form of formless and entered into the circle. Another stick spread more of the foul smoke. I finally made it to the female and cut her bindings and the cat man lifted her and ran. As yet another stick released the smoke.
I followed the Cat man and took on my form demanding to know his attentions with this female. I was not about to let her fall from one set of dark ones into another. He was humorous in reply and I felt he was good, I placed the test but the talisman has still not spoken to me on him. He asked me of a thing he called the “moon” it was a large ball of dim light that hung in the sky allowing us to see, like the cracks in the chest that let light shine in. I told him I had never seen such a light before.
A man in red joined us and spoke quickly about my clothing, tossing me a cloak with arms from his own back. He then spoke of the dark ones and went back to finish the task they came for. I opened my minds eye and saw the bird, which I now nestled close to me, as a man, the red one in trouble and spoke to the Cat man of these things. He went to aid his friend and the bird did so too. They seemed to be following a line of right so I decided I would see how I could aid them.
In my minds eye I saw the man bird go to four legs. I carried the maiden to hide in safety of the trees. The blackness above broke out in cold wet tears and stung my body. I tried with all my might not to let the bitterness of this new weather effect my efforts. When I sensed that the dark ones where fleeing, I returned to the spot that they had left me. I than saw in my minds eye a huge danger, full of want and hunger flying in the sky.
The four-legged bird was attacked and I gave up my charge to the cat man so that I may lead him to his fallen friend. As we arrived the red one was attacking the man/beast. As the beast slumped over I scooped up the winged friend and saw his wounds were roughly bound in the cloth of the beast. As I saw the red one was going to kill this beast and was calling him a demon. I tried to explain that it was helping his friend but he left back in the woods. The Cat man followed but the coldness, the coldness ached in my bones and I could not move. My head spun and my legs went weak. I felt myself slipping into the whirling swirl of the blackness. Valoki called to me but his mind slipped from mine and all my thoughts ended in the cold of the green.
I let the blackness of the cold green take over my body and I was lost to all. Slowly the nightmare repeated in my slumbering mind and faces of these new males flashed in and out. I was lost to all. I was alone. I was far from home. I could never return from this dark abyss. Valoki touched my mind and the light of hope returned to my dreams. He gently guided me back to the warmth of the love of my people. Slowly the dark faded and brightness and warmth surrounded me.
I opened my eyes and looked in to the reflection of my own green eyes but stronger and more powerful. His eyes were mine, his hair long silky black like mine. His elven voice sang to the delight of my ears. I spoke saying I must be dreaming but I knew I wasn’t. How many times had I dreamed this dream? I knew at last it was not a dream. His words where not of our tongue. He was like me but far different from me. None in the forest had the hair of blackness like mine or the eyes of the green. Brown, reds and yellow flame locks did dress the people of the forest, which have always surrounded me. Eyes of black, purple, gold, red, blue and brown have I only seen staring back at me in faces of others. His eyes, oh his eyes how I wish I could escape into those eyes. His name was Cufean.
He stood in a room but I was in a case of glass and wet from the tears of the sky, only the tears where no longer cold but still felt warm as it beaded on my skin. He took my hand and led me from the case and covered me in a warm white cover that had the scent of flowers in bloom. His touch was soft and gentle. The cat man was staring at me and the four-legged birdman was in a small glass case. The man who wore red came in and brought me a larger covering. He had spirits of ages speaking to him. I believe living in him as we would join with the trees and the flame. A woman joined in this strangely large room. She was Kara. I asked of my staff. All went silent.
Cufean told Kara to have me dry off and put a “robe” on. Red ran off very upset with the spirits. Cat disappeared in a beam of light with Cufean. I could hear the Demon screaming out. Kara guided me out to a large room. Things where going to fast. I was unable to absorb all that was around me. My heart began to ache when I saw how much the belongings of the very large hut were made from the remains of dead trees.
I began to speak with Kara. She was a lonely being cursed by fate to never know the touch of another. Her being cried out to be held but her mind could never allow this. I spoke of my land and the offer it held for her but I didn’t wish to press. I tried again to ask the talisman but again it held silent. I began to worry that either none of this world would be accepted or I was not asking it right. Maybe I needed to convert their will before I asked. That couldn’t be right. To give hope and than have it crushed is not the way of the flame. I will have to think more of it. But as I thought along this line I heard a knocking on the door.
The sweet green eyes of his elven present again meet mine and I was lost all over again. Cat handed my staff to me and I saw for the first time his eyes also sparkled in the color of green. I began to feel more at home. Cufean sent Cat off to sleep and lead Kara and me back into the room of cases where we came upon the demon/man and the red one. It pleased me that the man of red saw my words true. He had doubted my words as if I was a dark one. I vow to earn his trust in my word.
Cufean glanced at me and something inside me obeyed as if I was just an entertainer performing my part in the story. I took his arm and he led us to a great hall. Kara and the beast man followed. Tears welled within me as I took the seat he held for me. The table was longer than two men. It was highly polished to reflect like a looking glass and it was of the most riches wood I had ever seen. I ran my hand over the surface and felt sad that such a lovely tree should have died. Why did the spirit leave its home?
Cufean had many food brought forth. There was none that was known to me. It was bitter or sweet, hot and cold, all of it was rich in flavors and sat heavy in my throat. The drink of clear reminded me of the milk of the acorn tree but it had an unpleasant taste that lingered in my mouth. I spoke of our land and the duty I was here to full fill and again I tried to offer the gift of out forest to Kara. I have never been very good with females but only a very few bothered to try and be my friend and I know they are there for me. For all times to come. He noticed I was not enjoying the meal and took me into another room, which he pulled a hot pie from the oven. It melted in my mouth like fire berry pie that had been cut with wafers. He scooped large amounts of cold “ice cream” on top. I can not compare it to anything in the forest.
My face was sticky my body ached and my eyes began to close. I need to refresh my system and he took me to a room and showed me a chair that you sat on and pushed down a knob and water swirled. There was knobs that was across that let water that did not burn to flow freely in a white bowl that had a hole in the center. So many things new. He left me to deal with my needs and like a bad child I began to play with all the knobs. I should have known better one of the knobs on the white basin wouldn’t turn so I pushed harder and it popped off. I did what I could but nothing would make the flow stop. Finally I opened the door and admitted my guilt. He was oh so kind oh so gentle Oh such a dream.
On his arm he led me to a room with a huge fluffy pillow in the center of four poles. It was way too soft to sleep on. I asked if there was someplace else I could rest, a bit firmer. He smiled and I felt the warmth of it fill my body. He took me into his arms and I felt as safe as if Josho was still within his form and was tending to my needs. Up he soared through the roof and over the sky as if on a dragon’s wing. He drifted slowly down onto a hut high above the trees. He opened the doors and lit a flame in a box that contained dead wood. The wood sprung into the flame dance of home. He spread a blanket in front of the fire and I crawled across the floor to be close to him. I could only see the darken form and his features light up in tinges of yellow. His eyes of jaded green held me and his hair of silk. I want so much to speak of this, he was the man I dreamed of. He was all a female could want. He was Cufean of the land of Green and made it warm for me. He leaped into the sky as his duty called and I drifted off to sleep. Dreaming
