Raven’s Personal Log 21

Raven’s Log 21

The sun rose and the dance stopped. I looked to the east and cried in my mind at the new day of the green. The star eased my pain the world just the shadow it was and I made my way back to the City of Seattle.

The house stood still in the quiet morning. I opened the door to the new hunt and entered. The four walls stood, as did yesterday the papers laid upon the table where we had left them. The star spoke to me; “It was a good plan. It is not your fault.”

I walked up the stairs in silence. I thought of all the times I had spent with my little brother. Tears welled as I approached the door to his room. The star spoke, “Be at ease, be at ease. He was just a shadow in the play.” My soul drifted further in the coolness of the Star’s embrace. The pain melted from my mind. Of course they where right. He was just an actor upon the stage.

I opened the door and stared at the lump in his bed. My eyes sparked to life. My heart leapt with joy and the Star fled my mind in pain. In the real of the moment, I moved to his side and looked down upon his face. Sweet little brother was safe. I fell to my knees and pulled back my tears, that now streamed in silence. Gently I kissed his forehead and turned to his desk. I found my logs stacked nicely next to his schoolbooks. In my cloak I placed them and turned once more to his slumbering form. Thank the flame that he lives. I moved from the room and left the house without a sound.

In the distant I spied the blue white streak of ice traveling towards the house. Upon the sheet slide Icehawk. His dress was one of the evening and his eyes looked tired as turned to a stop a few lengths from me.

“Good evening, Raven. What gets you out so late?”

“Hello Ice.” I smiled at him. “You missed all the fun.”

“I know!” he stated, “I should have gone to that other party!”

“I wish I didn’t go to the one I attended.”

“Oh? What happened?”

“Cat was cat napped and Iron Golem nearly killed. I fell for old tricks.” I shook my head at my own blunders.

Ice Hawk looked surprised, “Oh? What did I miss?”

“And the team didn’t do what was planed. We had it all set.” I tried to reply it in my mind; “Every one in place but Hawkins attacked before they where in place and iron Golem jumped out to soon. Which made us all out of position.”

“I have noticed we have our share of loose cannons.” He smiled.

“Share of them! They all are.”

“Even you?” he grinned.

“Even me.” I agreed as I continued, “How can a plan come off right if you can’t count on your members doing what is agreed. When things go nuts so do I.”

Ice Hawk gave his words of wisdom to me, “No plan, no matter how well conceived, survives contact with the enemy. Murphy’s Law.”

“Mind giving me a ride?” I requested, “I am tired.”

Ice Hawk grinned, “Are you kidding? Nothing better then a woman in your arms!”

Ice Hawk traveled in the cold of wind. I felt the cold of the ride. The cold of him ‘his arm embarrassing me tight. In his eyes I could see the loneliness of the green. The star called and I turned from it. I saw Pam in the distant. She wore the stripes on her cheeks and a trench coat over her skin. She Paused at the door as we approached.

Ice Hawk eyes grew big as his lips released a single word, “Whoa!”
He planted; ice chips sprayed and he came to a stop releasing me. His eyes never leaving Pam.

“Hi Pam. Out late again?” I greeted her.

Ice Hawk whispered in my ear, “Going to introduce me?”

Pam shrugged, “Had a gig.”

“Forgive me ice,” I apologized as I spoke to both, “Pam this is Icehawk. Icehawk this is Pam.”

“Hi,” Pam pulled her eyes from him and turned the knob on the door.

Ice Hawk grinned, “James, please…Icehawk is so…cold.”

I stated clearly, “Icehawk I give you permission to enter for a visit.”

“Thanks, Raven, I think you just made my week.” His eyes still did not move from her.

“It is nice to know I am not the only night owl…” we moved through the door as he spoke, “You say you had a gig? Are you a singer?”

Pam corrected, “Dancer.”

Linda slide down a vine, “bout time you got home. Who’s the hunk?”

Ice Hawk murmured “Looks like I found all the great looking women in Seattle… Oh boy…three!”

“Hi! I am Linda.” Linda moved to his side.

Ice Hawk choked a little, “More like Jane.” His eyes looked around at the living warehouse forest.

“Raven is making us learn to swing.” Linda said off handed

Ice Hawk grinned “James, please to meet you” he laughed, “Swing, Raven?”

Linda took his hand, “Nice meeting you too. You a mate? Or just a friend?”

“Whenever possible…” he answered with mischief in his eye, “But just a friend to Raven.”

I laughed, “He is not one of the chosen. He is of the Hunt.”

Linda winked at Ice, “Way kewl.”

Ice Hawk pointed at Pam and Linda. “So you two are mates?”

I tried to explain, “Pam was chosen and Linda is not ready yet.”

Ice Hawk eyed Linda over “She looks ready to me…” I shook my head at Linda, turning a smile at him

Pam walked away from us her coat slide from her as she approached the pool of water. Her tiger stripes were all that could be seen at this distant. Ice Hawk looked at the two girls. His eyes snapped back at Pam as he did double take. Pam’s black bikini blended well into the stripes of her dance routine.

Ice Hawk walked in to me, his eyes never leaving Pam. He tore them from her and looked down at me. I smiled and greeted his wonder, “Welcome to the Warehouse forest.” I pointed to the sands, “When a team member is hurt. I bring them here for the healing sand and the aid of Mystic. That mound is Iron Golem. The girls watch over the wounded.”

Ice Hawk’s gaze returned to Pam as she swam in the pool. Ice Hawk murmured, “I need to jump in front of a car…”

“Mystic and William protects the girls.” I continued smiling. “You can only enter on my say. This place is protected.”

Ice Hawk watched Pam for a moment longer and spoke softly, “What’s Pam’s story? Does she have a guy? Do you accept begging? Or would a large amount of cash work better?”

I laughed. Pam left the water her oil base stripe still perfect on her. She grabbed a towel and moved towards us. I whispered to him. “She is single.”

His eyes followed as he stated, “There is a god.”

“Pam get the cold cream.” I called out; “We need to get the stripes off

Ice Hawk tripped on his words; “er…do you have too?”

“How would she walk in the day?” I answered as Pam brought a jar and more towels.

Ice Hawk smiled “She is a serious distraction…” Ice’s eyes danced over her, as his grin grew wider. “Anyone mind if I chill the pond..And sit in it?”

I started to rub the cold cream on Pam and wiping off one of the stripes. I felt eyes upon me and saw William from above. “Ice do this for me I have something to tend to.” I handed him the cream and towels. His mouth opened and nodded. I ran to the nearest vine and swung from one to the other till I was with William. I looked down at the two and agreed with the Star in my mind. They would make a fine couple.

William and I entered his room, moving to the back of it as he closed the entry. His arms went around me in a moment. He drew me into his body as his lips pressed to my lips. The star urged me on. They wish to see this.

The kiss was brief and his head moved to lay on my shoulder. “Raven,” he whispered in my ear. “Please don’t stay with him. He will only hurt you again.”

“William, I am his for all times. I can not change the burning in my blood for him.”

“If he really loved you, if he really cared, he would have a ring on his finger.” He pulled up to look deep into my eyes. “If you don’t believe me ask John.”

Linda’s voice rang though the wall. “Yo dudes, we are going to get some grub. So you, like, have to deal with punk face.”

William growled, “NO! Linda. You will have to deal with Josho. Raven and I have somewhere to go.”

“Hey! That is way unfair.”

My heart ached for the pain I could see in my first mates eyes. He was so torn inside. I stayed with him in his arms as he spoke all his worries and fears he had. All the warnings he could think of. Some of his word rang true to the bone and others floated away. Hours pasted and I comforted him, I cared greatly for him but not the love he had for me.

I have only one love, Cufaen, no matter his name. My blood still boils when I am near him, no matter the form he takes. I am his for all times. Nothing can change the flame inside me. It burns only for him.
