A small farming town was under the rule of a tyrant of a man, a despot that drove them all to near starvation with his taxes upon their crops and goods. Finally a single man grew too tired of this and sought the help of a witch. The cackling hag worked her spell and summoned a demon of hellfire and brimstone. That good, honorable, desperate man made a deal with that demon and branded his every descendant with a terrible curse in exchange for that power. He was given a weapon and a share of the demon&#8217;s power, but each generation the weapon would appear in a new form to the eldest of that generation. It was warning of the coming demon, a chance to prepare for its favor and for each generation it changed. Over the course of time the family came to the new world during the Civil War in time they settled in the south and became the Dren family.<\/p>\n<p>Julius Dren is the eldest of his siblings, a tall child and taller man as a grew. His parents were simply country folk and trusted his schooling to the public system. In high school he met Eden, a lovely young girl that stole his hurt and never gave it back. Theirs was a struggle for a simple on that small ranch of the Dren line. It was almost idealistic with their three daughters, Maggie, Mary, and Evelyn.<\/p>\n<p>But such things do not last, old stories began to surface as a mysterious gun appeared within his household. It seemed to growl lowly just at the edge of their hearing when someone, but Julius moved or touched. Whispers and horrid dreams soon plagued him, growing more intense as time went on. They demanded from his a favor of murder most foul, a monstrous visage haunted his waking hours. As the days grew long he could take it he attempt to he rid of the gun and perhaps the horrors it brought him. The pistol reappeared again and again until the sunset one last time over that ranch. Julius awoke to searing heat and screams. The demon, the visage from his nightmares stormed through the house ripped his family apart.<\/p>\n<p>Next time be waiting to serve Julius I&#8217;ll be coming again soon enough. It hissed into his ear before all went black.<\/p>\n<p>The next few months were a blur. They said he had killed them himself and locked him in a padded room. Time and time again they drummed their story into him and soon he began to believe it, until that gun came again. Its appearance filled him with dread and a terrible resolve. He had to break the curse.
